Apollo speciality Hospitals is a Neurological and Oncological extension of the main hospital where the sole radiology registrar has to independently handle all the various imaging modalities including mammography.
Teaching responsibilities at Apollo Hospitals Chennai:
As a registrar I was entrusted in training the primary and post- DMRD DNB trainees in the various modalities of radiology performed there during my respective postings. I along with my seniors and consultants had regular reporting and discussion sessions during training of these DNB trainees. I had to conduct seminars and journal clubs in radiology for residents in our department. We also has discussion sessions and seminars with consultants and residents of various other departments like Neuroradiology, Uroradiology, Gastrointestinal Radiology and Musculoskeletal radiology clubs.
Work experience as Consultant Radiologist in the department of MRI at Bharat Scans, Manglam Hospitals, Modern diagnostic centre and Hospital and Tidewater MRI centre- Lakeshore Hospital.
Bharat Scans, Chennai is one of the best diagnostic centres in Chennai city and has all imaging modalities that includes a 1.5 and .5 tesla MRI scanners, a single and a multi-slice (4 slice) helical CT scanner, 2D, 3D and 4D ultrasound and Doppler scanners, Image intensifiers, Digital X-ray machines, Bone densitometers and a well equipped pathology, microbiology and biochemistry lab all under one roof. Bharat scans has all top end world class equipments and also has an institute for training DNB students in radiology and Technologists in radiology and pathology. I was in-charge of the department of MRI and was working there as a consultant and had only one MRI scanner namely GE SIGNA Contour .5 Tesla MRI machine during my stay there. We were performing and reporting around 25 to 30 cases a day which included neuro-imaging studies, Musculoskeletal studies, neck and possible body ( Thoracic and Abdomino-pelvic) imaging. I interpreted special neuro related studies like Diffusion weighted imaging, Epilepsy studies, IAC protocol, cochlear studies, MR myelography, MR urography and MR cerebral and neck angiographies. I also interpreted MRCP, abdomino-pelvic and chest studies.
Manglam Hospitals, Kottayam has a well known medical diagnostic set up in the district which includes a clinical laboratory and Medical Imaging department with an MRI scanner namely the GE VECTRA .5 Tesla MRI machine, a single slice spiral CT scanner, a 2D ultrasound machine and a Siemens X-ray machine with image intensifier. I was in-charge of the department of MRI and use perform and report around 10 to 15 cases a day which included neuro-imaging studies, Musculoskeletal studies and neck imaging.
Modern diagnostic centre and Hospital, Kottayam is a reputed diagnostic centre and hospital in kottayam and is the first private diagnostic laboratory to be set up in the whole state of Kerala. Tidewater MRI centre- Lakeshore Hospital is a well known MRI centre attached to the State of the art Lakeshore hospital Kochi that is a famous tertiary level referral hospital especially for Gastroenterology and Oncology departments, and I was working there as a part time Visiting Consultant Radiologist in the department of MRI . My department had a SIEMENS 1 Tesla MRI Machine and during my stay we were performing and reporting around 10 to 15 cases a day which included neuro-imaging studies, Musculoskeletal studies, neck and possible body ( Thoracic and Abdomino-pelvic) imaging. Medical Trust Hospital is a premier Institute and a tertiary level referral hospital in Kochi city, Kerala State, India . Medical Trust Hospital is one of the oldest and most famous hospital in the state and boasts of all surgical and Medical speciality and superspeciality departments. Situated in the heart of Kochi city Medical Trust Hospital has the best infrastructure in the state and boasts of the 1st cardiac transplant other than the routine renal transplant. Our hospital is also currently planning for other transplant surgeries especially lung and liver transplants. Medical Trust hospital is recognized for training in Diplomate of national board (DNB) courses in nearly all superspeciality and speciality departments.
I am working here in Model Medi diagnostic centre, Medical Trust Hospital, Kochi since December 2004 till date as the only consultant radiologist in the Departments of MRI and CT scan. We perform and report around 250 MRI cases and 600 CT scan cases a month. I have one Post M.B.B.S and one Post DMRD DNB trainees under my supervision every month for training. We have well trained technicians and support staff to take care of the routine work.
I am working here with a .5 Tesla Philips Intera where we perform routine Cranio-spinal, Musculoskeletal and Body MRI studies. In addition we also perform MR angiographies including Contrast enhanced MR angiographies, MRCP, MR Urography, MR Myelography , Diffusion weighted and CSF flow studies.
In am also working here with a 64- Slice Multi detector CT scanner with which we perform routine Brain, Neck, Chest including HRCT, Abdominal, Pelvic and Extremity studies including 3D reconstructions of all regions. We routinely perform and report coronary angiographies and various other vascular studies. We are evaluating the various applications of body perfusion imaging and will be routinely performing them after establishing its clinical utility.
Teaching responsibilities at Medical Trust Hospital Kochi:
We have two post-MBBS and two post DMRD DNB trainees in our department and as a Consultant I have been training these primary and post- DMRD DNB trainees in the various modalities of radiology especially in MRI, CT scan and Mammography. Al-Zahra hospital, Sharjah, U.A.E is the oldest, most modern, tertiary level referral and state of the art private hospital in the entire U.A.E. Situated in the heart of the city of Sharjah Al-Zahra hospital boasts of the first 3-Tesla Philips MRI machine in the entire U.A.E and the most modern 64-slice Philips CT scanners in addition to the highly sophisticated Cathlab, Digital X-ray, Ultrasound and Mammography machines. I am in-charge of MRI and CT scan Studies and reporting in addition to routine X-ray and ultrasound reporting. I am responsible for the routine and highly advanced Neuro-spinal, Musculoskeletal and whole body MRI studies and Coronary CT angiograms in addition to the routine CT scans, Ultrasound scans and X-ray reporting. I have applied for level 2 certification with Society of cardiovascular computed tomography U.S.A for which I am eligible. We conduct regular C.M.EÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s for doctors and staff of all other hospitals in Sharjah and also hold regular case discussions with other departments in the hospital.
